That sudden transition from one team to a whole league caused us to scramble to organize registration, order uniforms, arrange for practice & game fields and schedules and generally get a crash course in running a league from scratch. It made for a lot of hard work and missed sleep, but somehow we pulled it off and have kept it running ever since. None, and I repeat none, of that would have happened without an eager parent/guardian/advocate base that pitched in to make it happen. As a result of that early work and another dozen years of all-volunteer effort we are, and have been for several years now, the largest youth sports activity in Fluvanna County.
That strong effort and drive has brought us success on the Travel level where FYSA recently won two SOCA Skyline League Classic Cups during 2010-2011. Furthermore it has translated to the High School level where the boys team twice earned District Championships. The JV boys team has won 4 out of the last 5 titles and they have played in the final for the last 6 years. Additionally, the Girls teams have been more than competitive including a pair of Regional berths. Prior to the influx of FYSA players and graduates of the FYSA program no Fluvanna soccer team had ever recorded a winning season.
